Game Review
Developer: Konami Studios
Publisher: Konami
Genre: Air Combat
When picking up a game like this you don't expect it to be better than Ace Combat 4, but still the level of this game doesn't even compare to Ace Combat 2 on the PS1.
You expect some quality from this game when you load it up and watch the famous Japanese company Konami logo. Then you are promised with good graphics with the in game CGs. But all that comes down crashing and burning like a shot down enemy fighter.
The first thing that scares you is the horrible voice dubbing - kids shows like Pokemon have a better cast of voice actors! After the initial shock you are hit in the face with the terrible story line. Those two aspects together make a deadly combination that make your fingers itch to press the reset button. But unfortunately for me the reviewer, I have to finish the game to tell you about it. And let me tell you, this past few days were dark and scary, and I have little recollection of what happened during that time.
Just before you are sent into coma from playing this game the last few things that burn your retinas are the horrible graphics. Seriously, I wasn't joking when I said that Ace Combat 2 had better graphics. When playing the game all the colors just bleed into each other messing up the games visuals. The ground looks like one piece of textured rendered an infinite times over and over to make the illusion that a level of ground exists. The next thing that's going to burn a hole in your retina is the Ground targets. They look like a bunch of Jaggy lines put together that have some color in them and around.
But still even with all this if the game was fun to play then it would be alright, right?
Unfortunately for the gamers who will get hospitalized by this game, it isn't fun to play. The game play is terrible; due to two main reasons. The game play gets really boring since you are blowing up ugly ground targets or blowing up stupid "suicidal" air targets. And I don't mean Kamikaze suicidal, I mean they are so stupid that they do absolutely nothing till you get bored of them and shoot them down. Second is the absolutely wacky physics. When flying the plane you have three choices to go straight, go up, or go down. The physics are really limited in the game and will have you press the reset button and play Ace Combat 4 instead.
The Score: 2.5 out of ten.
